Carbios, an Auvergne start-up, has just invented a process that allows infinite recycling of PET (plastic bottles, bottles, detergent, milk, clothing). This invention has been validated by Nature, which has even chosen to make it its front page. A huge Pride in Clermont-Ferrand.

An Auvergne start-up finds itself propelled to the front page of the very prestigious scientific journal "Nature". She presents her revolutionary innovation in plastic recycling.

Let's be honest, I don't think I would have ever talked about this business if it hadn't made the front page of Nature. Nature is the most prestigious scientific journal in the world. For the record, it was she who revealed the hole in the Ozone Layer, or even Dolly, the first cloned sheep. And so, there, in its last edition, Nature put in One this innovation of an Auvergne start-up "Carbios". I can tell you that yesterday, I had on the phone, the general manager of Carbios who said to me with tremolo in his voice: "already having an article in Nature is very difficult, but then Make the news…" ….

So what is this revolutionary new process for recycling plastic.

Plastic is very poorly recycled today. It's mechanical recycling. We melt the old bottles ... but, we are forced to incorporate new plastic from the new to have a product that stands roughly, at the outlet. There, this start-up invented a chemical process, an enzyme, which will break the PET molecule, and therefore, we reconstitute the raw material ... This allows infinite recycling of plastic, as for glass. As you can imagine, all the giants (Nestlé, L'Oréal or Pepsi) are already on the ranks to industrialize this process, validated by Nature and which operates in a pilot plant.

News that is heart-warming ... for the planet ... for our researchers ...

And which provides proof that we will save the planet not by decreasing (we stop consuming and we return to the Stone Age). But it is innovation that will save us in this case, Auvergne innovation that could forever get rid of plastic waste.
