During the epidemic, Gong Linna sighed in the mountains in Yunnan to learn singing skills and learn singing skills——
Folk vocal music can't be learned in a lifetime

Our reporter Han Xuan

During the epidemic, the performance activities were suspended, but singer Gong Linna's life was busy. She has just returned from the mountainous areas of Midu County, Dali, Yunnan, and Nanjian Yi Autonomous County. She listens to recordings, learns folk songs, and writes music at home every day. She is very busy. "I didn't have the chance to come to power during the epidemic, so I would study and accumulate good works. I especially cherish this time!"

Wojia listens to the original ecological music of ethnic minorities

A sudden outbreak has disrupted many artists' performance plans. In the original plan, Gong Linna will hold a personal special session at Stanford University in the United States on April 5, which has been extended to January next year. In fact, since the outbreak in January this year, Gong Linna has been at her home in Dali, Yunnan, and has not been out for months. In the time at home, she was not idle.

"For singers, performances are released, and they need to be accumulated now." In the first two months of the home war "epidemic", Gong Linna first turned out "The Original Ecology of Chinese Minorities" edited by Professor of Central Conservatory of Music and Yun Feng "Folk Song Collection", this "Collection" contains 55 CDs, recording the original ecological music of 55 ethnic minorities in China. "I collected this set of CDs two years ago, but I was busy at the time and did not listen to them completely. This time I used my time at home to correspond to every song in every province and every nationality in the country."

At the end of March, the domestic epidemic clearly improved, and Gong Linna, who was at home for a long time, began to be tempted: "Can I go out to collect wind? It is in a nearby mountain village, not to go to big cities and places with many people." After inquiring, she learned that Dali had jurisdiction. The mountain villages are no longer closed, and she can go as long as she does n’t leave Dali within a few months, so she chooses to go to Midu County and Nanjian Yi Autonomous County, two places where there are almost no epidemic cases. A treasure trove of original ethnic music for ethnic minorities opened slowly for Gong Linna, which surprised her repeatedly.

Visit many non-genetic inheritors to learn song and dance

Midu is the birthplace of the folk song "Little River Flowing Water". "Little River Flowing Water" is based on two local folk songs "Sheep Tune" and "The Moon Comes Bright". There, Gong Linna visited Li Caifeng, the inheritor of Midu folk songs over the age of 70. Li Caifeng was at the fire pond at home and sang "Sheep Tune" to Gong Linna. She also sang many folk songs in the Yi language. Hearing the old people singing a lot of vibrato, Gong Linna was very excited, listening, recording, and taking notes: "Yi folk songs use a lot of vibrato, this is a kind of Chinese vocal skills, this is what I want to find and organize!"

In Midu, Gong Linna visited a number of non-genetic inheritors in her 70s and 80s. When she arrived at Nanjian, she met a group of three local girls called "Gold Finch" and sang along with them on the hillside. On the hillside, in the woods, and in the village, the compatriots of the Yi nationality can sing and dance at any time. Nanjian was also officially awarded the "Hometown of Chinese Folk Skirting Art" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Gong Linna caught up with a banquet dance.

"A man is standing on his head, holding a plate in his hand, and there is a table in his mouth with a plate on it, jumping while walking, and a combination of several people, holding the plate like an acrobatic performance, singing and jumping, No matter how it is performed, the dishes in the dish will not be sprinkled. "Gong Linna was infected with cheerful emotions, and she learned to jump dishes from local inheritors. Afterwards, she lamented," This technique is too difficult! "It took more than a week. Gong Linna visited the two counties of Midu and Nanjian. Towards the end, the locals also wanted to take her to a more remote mountain village. She waved her hands repeatedly: "No, I have to go home and digest. The recordings and videos of these days need to be sorted out, and my head can't fit!" After returning home, Gong Linna spent most of her time collating materials and notation every day. The more she did this, the more she felt that she had "too much to learn from folk". "Many people say that I have good singing skills, in fact, I consulted the folks." Gong Linna took a deep breath: "It's so happy to be a Chinese singer! I can learn like this all my life and learn all my life!"

At present, Gong Linna plans to start her next wind collection in early May. She will go to the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, a little further away, to learn local folk songs. In the future, she will also move from Yunnan to other parts of the country, slowly collecting a "sound map" of China's original ecology.

Collecting wind is to pass on folk vocal music

More than a week of collecting styles, let Gong Linna appreciate the style of folk vocal music, but also let her think more deeply: how to pass on these music.

When she visited her inheritor Li Caifeng, Gong Linna found that the local government had built a large training center for her. The facilities were very good and the room was large, but few people came to learn singing folk songs. It's a lot. "It used to be useful to sing in the past. When the little girl sings well, you can talk about good objects. Now there is no use, no one wants to learn. This is the reason for the loss of folk songs all over the world." Gong Linna said, the reason for jumping dishes Some people learn it because it is useful: "Local people who can skip dishes are respected by people and are a local way of life. Performing at a banquet can also increase income. There are more people who want to learn."

In this way, Gong Linna suddenly thought of a way, "Many inheritors have never thought about teaching students because they do n’t know how to bring students, and teaching also needs methods and skills. I can teach them and make them teachers, both They are respected and teach students to earn a little income to survive by singing. "At the same time, she also intends to pass on the wind harvest to the music teachers in the school and let them spread the folk treasures to those who grew up in the city. student.

On the second day of Gong Linna ’s return, her talent training project of "Singing Classical Poetry and Retaining Chinese Vocal Music" also started online. This is a public welfare project funded by the Beijing Culture and Art Fund in 2019 that she applied for. At a fixed time, teach music and teaching knowledge to some primary and middle school music teachers in Beijing. In this class, she shared the experience of this style of gathering, and also made her feel more rewarded: "I originally thought that I would teach where I go, but that is only my personal affair. Now I think, if there are many Everyone can teach young people what they know, and Chinese vocal music will not be passed down! "
