Okinawa Prefecture has announced that it has been newly confirmed that three men, two male college students in their twenties and one female in their seventies, are infected with the new coronavirus. The number of confirmed infections in Okinawa is now 42.

According to Okinawa Prefecture, one of the male college students went to a university outside the prefecture, and it was confirmed that a person who had a meal with them at the end of last month was infected.

Another male student lives in Urasoe City and attends a university in the prefecture, and a woman in her 70s in Naha is a family of a 70s male who was confirmed infected on April 4. All three are not seriously ill.

The number of confirmed infections in Okinawa has now reached 42, and Governor Tamaki has decided to request medical institutions in the prefecture to cooperate on securing medical beds on the 10th because the beds are tight.

Meanwhile, a woman in her 20s in Naha City, where the infection was confirmed on the 7th, was found to be a nurse at a southern hospital in Itoman City.

The hospital announced the details on its homepage on the 9th, and this nurse is scheduled to retire at the end of this month, went to work last day on the 30th of last month, and subsequently developed fever symptoms.

According to the Southern Hospital, no in-patients were found to have any close contact with hospitalized patients, indicating that no hospital-acquired infection had occurred and that the ward where nurses were working had been disinfected.
