"Two medical trains were mobilized. They carried out the transfer of 41 patients hospitalized in intensive care, from establishments in the Ile-de-France region," added the prefecture. According to state services, "the first train provided transport for 20 patients to the hospitals of Vannes, Lorient and Quimper". "The second train ensured the transfer of 21 patients, distributed between the CHU of Rennes, the hospitals of San-Malo, Morlaix, the CHU of Brest and the army training hospital in Brest", continued the prefecture .

A total of thirteen patients were admitted to the Rennes University Hospital, according to the University Hospital, of which seven "were admitted to medical resuscitation and six others to surgical resuscitation". "They are all stabilized and their families were contacted as soon as their installation was completed," said the CHU in a press release. Installed aboard a medicalized TGV, the first patients arrived in Rennes shortly before 1:45 p.m.

As of Saturday, teams from the CHU of Rennes, hospitals of Saint-Malo and Redon (21 people) had embarked in the direction of Paris, accompanied by two nurse anesthetists from Ille-et-Vilaine. "Arrived at Montparnasse station, they were transferred to the Austerlitz station in order to arm the sanitary TGV with the material previously transported by truck," said the Rennes CHU.

"It went well"

In Quimper, a TGV arrived at the station around 4 p.m., with seven other patients who were to be routed to the hospital center, according to a source close to the operations. Emergency doctor Patrick Pelloux was on the TGV for Brest. "It went well (...) About twenty patients were brought to Rennes, Morlaix and Brest," said Patrick Pelloux.

Saturday evening, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Brittany announced in a press release the transfer of "several dozen" patients from Ile-de-France and the mobilization of two health trains on Sunday. Brittany had already welcomed six patients from the Haut-Rhin on March 25 to relieve the saturated hospitals in this region, one of the most affected in France by the pandemic.
