Italian scientific experts have announced that a reliable blood test for antibodies to detect people with Coronavirus will give a better picture of the extent of the epidemic in Italy and can be determined within days.

As pressure is increasing to know who was exposed to the virus and whether some people have developed immunity to it in order to ease the government's strict isolation measures to limit the spread of infection.

It may take another month, probably, before health authorities in Italy can implement recommendations for taking the test nationwide, according to Reuters.

More than 115,000 people have been infected with the virus in Italy since the outbreak was discovered in rich northern regions on February 21, and nearly 14,000 people have died, the world's highest death toll from the disease.

But the daily numbers of new injuries and deaths have been steady in the past few days, and figures that experts hope will be an indication that the outbreak will subside.
