The proposal means that a temporary crisis fund of SEK 20 million will be set up, where players in the free cultural life can apply for money for missing ticket and rental income.

- It is about individual productions, projects or cultural events that suffer. We do this redistribution because we have to guard what we already have. But I believe and hope that everyone understands that we have to make tough priorities during these times, ”says Culture and Urban Environment Mayor Jonas Naddebo to DN.

The activities that will be prioritized are those that are crucial for the culture infrastructure in Stockholm as well as activities aimed at children and young people, writes the City of Stockholm on its website.

- This can, for example, be about actors that produce a lot of children's and youth culture that caters to the whole family, or that the city's schools and preschools take part in. Or assembly rooms in the city's socioeconomically weak areas, says Jonas Naddebo.

Payable in mid-May

The money consists of redistributed funds within the various forms of cultural management. The ongoing and planned support calls for support for 2020 are therefore canceled.

The forms for the support package are now being investigated and a formal decision will be made by the Cultural Committee on April 21. The goal is for this money to start being paid out in mid-May.

- I understand that this can be perceived as slow, but in the world of municipal politics it is, after all, very fast, says Jonas Naddebo to DN.
