It was the report of several liberal nurses that revealed the error. On Saturday, at the opening of its “drive masks”, intended to provide local health professionals with protective equipment, the city of Nice also distributed disinfectant gel which has proven not to be effective against the coronavirus.

The flasks dispensed indeed have a formula of standard EN 1276, which is not virucidal, but only bactericidal. It is standard EN 14476 which in fact guarantees activity against viruses, compatible with the fight against Covid-19.

In an email sent to the health professionals concerned, the town hall alerted to this error, specifying that the batches of gels concerned are "resulting from a donation to the city of Nice by a generous patron". She offers an "exchange with a bottle of the same capacity with a virucidal product", directly "at the drive this Thursday, April 2 from 9 am to 1 pm".
