Guest of Europe 1, Charlotte Mahr is the creator of "Bulle", a free application intended to help people with cancer during confinement. It offers physical activities to combat the effects of a sedentary lifestyle.

In this period of health crisis, compulsory confinement can be even more difficult for people suffering from long illnesses, who are already fighting on a daily basis. In order to help them, Charlotte Mahr, founder of the myCharlotte start-up, launched on March 24 a free application, "Bulle", intended to support people with cancer during confinement.

Charlotte Mahr has already developed a first application, intended for women suffering from breast cancer, and making available to them, in the form of videos and audio recordings, 130 simple physical exercises intended to combat the side effects of the treatments. , such as fatigue or nausea, but also against stress and anxiety that can lead to serious illness. Developed in just five days, the "Bubble" application offers a summary of these exercises, this time for all cancer patients, and specifically intended to combat the negative effects of confinement.

Slowing down physical conditioning

"Normally, patients treated for cancer have the possibility of being able to benefit from activities, called supportive care, either in the hospital or in associations," explains Charlotte Mahr at the microphone of Mélanie Gomez, in Sans Go to Europe 1. "With the confinement linked to Covid-19, all these activities are suspended. 'Bulle' groups together activities likely to benefit all people suffering from cancer, so that they can fight against the risks associated with containment. "

Indeed, it is important for people affected by cancer to be able to curb the effects of a sedentary lifestyle, such as physical deconditioning. "These are gentle mobilization exercises, so that we can benefit the greatest number without difficulty. The objective is to achieve muscle contraction to fight against muscle wasting," says the founder of "Bulle".

A program established with professionals

The programs offered by the application have been validated by different specialists. "We managed to mobilize in a few days many players: doctors, nurses, different hospitals (like the Gustave Roussy Institute or the Montpellier Cancer Institute, editor's note ) and patient associations who know the importance of doing activities, because they know they can have a real impact on their daily lives. " In addition to physical exercises, "Bulle" also offers breathing exercises or meditation-type, also thought to reduce the psychic aspect of confinement in people already weakened by the disease.
