Migrations from the countryside to the city began a long, long time ago. The rural exodus is hundreds of years old, if not thousands. Without counting on the Industrial Revolution, for not going any further, it may seem to us that -in Spain, for example-, the flow of peasants into the cities is a thing of the last century, perhaps because we associate the phenomenon with experience and memory of our grandparents - as if they were the first - and also, conversely, because we still knew prosperous villages
