This is in any case the conclusion of the observatory of green cities, which has just released the results of its study looking at the actions implemented by communities for the protection of the environment. Nantes and Metz complete the top three, followed by Amiens and Lyon.

To establish the classification, six main categories were studied: green heritage, financial investment, biodiversity, awareness, zero phyto maintenance and political dynamism. "The municipalities allocate on average 1.3% of their total budget to the creation of new green spaces (as much as in 2017), and spend each year 76 € per inhabitant," says the study. On average, each city devotes a green area of ​​"51 m2 per inhabitant, ie 3m2 more since 2017".
