2020 did not begin with a festive mood, but with an act of international terrorism - the assassination of one of the leaders of Iran, General Suleimani, with a targeted missile strike. Even then, it became clear that the coming year would not be an easy walk. The first impressions were not disappointing - just a few weeks later, Poland launched an anti-Russian campaign with the support of the German media in order to erase the Soviet Union from the history of a glorious victory. The Ukrainian president Zelensky, who recently wept at the grave of his grandfather, a veteran, has already joined with this campaign with pleasure.

Now Russophobian front opened in PACE. The first day of the winter session began with the cries of the Ukrainian delegation and the joined nationalists from Georgia and the “Baltic extinctions” (the expression of the military commissar Steshin about the Baltic states). The purpose of this Russophobic booth is to convince European deputies to vote for limiting the powers of the delegation from Russia. This event did not become news for us - a week before the start of the session, Leonid Slutsky literally stated the following, I quote: “We are developing good relations with a number of national delegations. At the same time, the powers of our delegation will most likely be disputed by the so-called Baltic Plus group. We hope that we will be able to overcome these attempts by a significant margin. "

As he looked into the water: now people's deputy Goncharenko - the very one who took a selfie against the background of charred corpses in Odessa - waved his hands in front of the cameras. Among the verbal flow, the phrase “Do not touch me, we all know about your“ Novice ”addressed to Russian journalists and State Duma Deputy Speaker Pyotr Tolstoy, sounds continually. Well, at least I didn’t sing the anthem - Ukrainian politicians have such a peculiarity: to perform the anthem of Ukraine in any strange situation. And at the suggestion of the Lithuanian representative of the Baltic Plus group, a proposal was put forward to review the full participation of Russia in the Parliamentary Assembly. Now the PACE Monitoring Committee is forced to draft a resolution and put it to a vote.

Our position on this issue is absolutely clear: either we fully work and participate in all PACE governance structures, or we leave the site. I wanted to put an ellipsis, but I won’t. It will not be possible to return back if the Europeans now follow the noisy small peoples. Still, different weight categories in Russia and each of the countries of Europe. Yes, and the European Union.

Moreover, the absolute absence of snobbery - yes, the Russian side is ready to work with all adequate structures. But, I emphasize, on an equal footing. These are exactly the elementary truths we signed up for when we returned to this site last year.

In these above-mentioned aspects, the hysteria of Ukraine and other ungrateful former Soviet republics is just not so interesting - wringing hands, cursing, riding in tears on the floor, Goncharenko in rubber gloves - we are already used to this. And in this direction we have a separate toolkit. We are talking specifically about Europe, which, of course, essentially does not include Georgia, Ukraine or even the Baltic states (I mean not formal membership in the EU, but membership in Old Europe). After all, it will be she who will soon have to decide on how to respond to the demand to deprive Russia of its rights in PACE.

With Britain, it’s definitely clear: yesterday its delegates already supported the Russophobic initiative. Britain is a 100% patented enemy, historically acting in the wake of any Russophobic initiatives.

If anyone else thought otherwise, then disheveled Johnson clearly said that there would be no normalization of relations. In this sense, you need to take a closer look at France and the energetic Macron, from whose filing the Russian delegation returned to the Parliamentary Assembly. What, incidentally, Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his French counterpart:

“France is a permanent member of the Security Council, a nuclear power and plays a significant role in decision-making in the field of international security. I believe that France’s support on a number of issues, including, say, on the issue I mentioned, related to the return of Russia to the Council of Europe, France’s position played a significant, if not key role. So, it seems to me that additional comments and evidence that we take cooperation with France in the most serious way should not be given, ”Putin said.

The next day, I also remind you, on a Macron’s official Facebook page, an entry in Russian appeared:

“Russia is a very deeply European country. We believe in Europe, stretching from Lisbon to Vladivostok. Progress is evident on many political or economic issues, for we are making efforts to develop Franco-Russian relations. I am convinced that in the course of this multilateral restructuring we must develop an architecture of security and trust between the European Union and Russia. ”

But we are united not only by this, but also by a common understanding of history, which is super relevant against the backdrop of the unleashed German-Polish campaign to denigrate the exploit of the Soviet Union. While Duda kissed passionately with President Zelensky, Macron spoke of the decisive role of the Red Army in World War II. I’ll make a small but important digression to bring to the main point. Just the other day, a hot discussion on the history of France and World War II broke out on the CNews French television channel. The writer Eric Zemmour put the opponent in place perfectly.

Finkelkraut: “Thousands of American soldiers died for the liberation of France. We must not forget this, we are in their eternal debt. We must not forget that Hitler won in alliance with Churchill. "

Zemmur: “This is not true. The British and Americans are the culprits of our defeat in 1940, because they turned their backs on us between the two wars and supported Germany, even when it became Hitler. Do not forget this! It was easy for the Americans to set us free after they crushed us! And not America liberated us, not these 10 thousand American soldiers, as you say, who came here to die for us, but 20 million Russians! It was the Russians who destroyed the German war machine. And if we should be indebted to someone, then we are indebted to the Russians! ”

I basically quoted such large quotes so that the reader has an understanding of who we are dealing with, the bearers of which worldview and ideology. Understanding these things, you begin to understand the processes unfolding today in PACE. In fact, clashes are taking place on the parliamentary site not only between Russia and the ungrateful republics, but also between truth-bearers - primarily Russia and France and revenge-seekers. So the vote on the resolution, which will be held in the coming days, will have a pan-European character. Tolstoy and Slutsky believe that the vast majority of delegates want to support us.

I would like to believe. Otherwise, PACE will soon become a branch of the Reichstag.
