Proceeds from global soccer players ’transfer deals continued to rise in 2019, reaching a record $ 7.35 billion, FIFA announced today, Wednesday.

FIFA said in its annual report on the global transfer market that the value of transfers increased by 5.8% from 2018, and it is much more than twice the amount spent by clubs to conclude new deals in 2012, which amounted to $ 2.66 billion.

Generally speaking, 18,042 transfers were made worldwide, with 15,463 players from 178 countries participating.

As usual, Europe had the lion's share of these transfers, as the value of deals made within the old continent amounted to $ 5.6 billion, which equals 76% of the total value of the deals.

English clubs spent 1.518 billion dollars to contract new players, while Spain clubs paid 1.286 billion dollars, and German clubs paid 686.4 million dollars.

In contrast, English clubs were the most revenue-earning players in Europe, with sales of $ 969 million.

Women’s football also saw a 19.7% increase in the number of player deals, with 833 transfers made to 757 players from 81 countries, and spending increased by 16.3%, to about $ 652 million.
