With its yellow color and flashy stickers, the van does not go unnoticed at the bottom of the towers of the Maurepas district in Rennes. A sort of mobile DIY workshop, the Bricobus has been crisscrossing since mid-December the five priority districts of the city to help isolated people or people with modest incomes to do small jobs at home. "This is not troubleshooting but rather mutual aid," says Cécile Liboureau.

Technical animator within the Compagnons Bâtisseurs de Bretagne, this building professional supervises young people in civic service or people in professional reintegration who make up the shock team. Their mission: move furniture, install an electrical outlet or change a door handle in private homes. So many small jobs that are sometimes complex for some people to do. "It is a way of reaching out to isolated people, making themselves accessible and creating social ties," says the young woman.

"Teach people to do it yourself"

A few days ago, Grégory thus helped a person to fix a mirror on his wall. A very simple task for him but which makes him very proud. "This allows me to put my training into practice and it also helps me to re-socialize by forging links with the inhabitants," says the volunteer, who is accompanied in his approach by the Compagnons Bâtisseurs.

The association, which has a solidarity workshop in Maurepas, is not satisfied with carrying out small jobs among people. Inside her Bricobus, she also puts her tools at the disposal of the inhabitants and advises and trains them for their DIY work. "There is also the idea of teaching them to do it yourself," says the supervisor. Present on Tuesday on the Kennedy slab in Villejean, the Bricobus continues its tour of the districts. He will settle down on January 31 in the morning in front of the Cleunay social center.
