The General Directorate of Civil Defense, Abu Dhabi, urged the public to adhere to public safety instructions and guidelines while using heating appliances to avoid any accidents that may result from misuse, as part of the "Safe and Pleasant Winter" campaign.

Brigadier General Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Amri, the Acting Director General, called for avoiding some of the wrong behaviors and behaviors in the use of heating devices that may cause accidents such as home fires or suffocation.

He emphasized continuing awareness to the public, and urged them to adhere to the advice and guidance of the civil defense to avoid the risks that might result from misuse of these devices.

Conditions and tips included ensuring the safety and tolerance of the wires connecting between the heater and the electrical source, avoiding placing their wires under the carpets, not allowing children to play near or around the heater to avoid touching it, or being exposed to its heat and falling on flammable materials, and not to use it to heat, dry, or light incense.

She pointed to the dangers of using heating appliances permanently to avoid the emission of carbon monoxide, and provide an automatic circuit breaker for the electrical current if it falls, and the need for adequate ventilation for the place in which it is used from time to time to get rid of the gases emitted from it.

She cautioned that the heater should be turned off when leaving the place or when sleeping, and not to be placed next to the water or a wet area
