The Rio de Janeiro Police are investigating a video in which hooded men who identify themselves as members of a far-right group claim an attack against the producer of a satirical Christmas program that portrays a gay Jesus and premiered on Netflix.

At least four men participated in the Molotov cocktails attack against the headquarters of the Porta dos Fundos production company on the early morning of December 24.

"All the hypotheses are investigated," curator Marco Aurélio Ribeiro told reporters after receiving the film's actors.

The police identified the license plates of a vehicle and a motorcycle used by the attackers and indicated that the images that the authors of the video interspersed in their message - which show the moment they drop the bombs - are "compatible" with the other records of the event. .

The hooded ones, whose voice appears distorted in the video, call the film "blasphemous" and charge their authors and Netflix , who they accuse of wanting to divide Brazil.

In the piece, of little more than two minutes, three men dressed in green shirts and balaclavas claim the attack and accuse Porta dos Fundos of carrying out a "direct attack on the faith of the Brazilian people" .

The group, which calls itself the Nationalist Popular Insurgency Command of the Great Brazilian Integralist Family , displays a flag of imperial Brazil and another with the Greek letter sigma, symbol of the Brazilian Integralist Action (AIB), a fascist-inspired movement of the 1930s .

The AIB, whose motto was God, country and family , was dissolved in 1937, but some groups maintained their ideological legacy, such as the Brazilian Integralist Front (FIB), which denied any link with the supposed "command" that claimed the attack.

The Christmas special The first temptation of Christ was released on December 3 on Netflix and generated a wave of indignation among the most conservative sectors of Brazil, a country of Catholic majority and with a growing influence of evangelical churches. A wave of indignation that has been faced in the last hours to social networks turning Trending Topic the hashtag #cancelonetflix where users of the social network make fun of those offended by the film about a gay Jesus Christ.

And a wave of indignation in which the environment of the Brazilian president has also entered. "We are in favor of freedom of expression, but is it worth attacking the faith of 86% of the population? Reflection remains," deputy Eduardo Bolsonar tweeted or, son of ultra-right president Jair Bolsonaro, mentioning the special.

Actor Joao Vicente de Castro , one of the members of Porta dos Fundos who met with police on Wednesday, said he is "totally" confident in the investigation.

"What happened was an attack on freedom of expression," he told reporters.

"We will continue forward, more united, stronger, more inspired and confident that the country will survive this storm of hate and that love will prevail along with freedom of expression," Porta dos Fundos said in its statement on Wednesday.

Porta dos Fundos, founded in 2012, won an International Emmy award this year in the Comedy category for the 2018 Christmas Special, also available on Netflix.
