Scientists have said that eating hot peppers four times a week may reduce the risk of death from a heart attack, according to the British "Daily Mail" website.

The researchers tracked the diet of nearly 23,000 volunteers for 8 years, as results showed that adults who consumed hot peppers more frequently, were less likely to die from heart attacks.

According to the Italian academics who participated in the study, the likelihood of dying of a heart attack was 40 percent.

Experts found that hot pepper was beneficial to heart health in volunteers who did not follow a healthy diet.

The researchers believe that the cause of capsaicin, which is the active compound in hot pepper, which also works as an anti-inflammatory, was the reason for this.
