To celebrate the International Day of the Arabic Language, the Department of Literature at the Culture and Arts Authority in Dubai (Dubai Culture) is holding a special event in which a number of artists and calligraphers working in the Authority present creative works that reflect the aesthetic values ​​of the Arabic language, on Wednesday, December 18 at the Home Bakery Café in a neighborhood Dubai Design - Building 7.

On December 18, it was chosen to celebrate the Arabic language, as it was the day the United Nations General Assembly Resolution was passed in 1973, and decided to include the Arabic language in the official languages ​​of the United Nations in addition to English, French, Russian, Chinese and Spanish. Hence, the number 18 had a symbolic presence at the event, in which each artist presented 18 creative works, as well as making raffles for 18 prizes.

The event witnesses the launch of the initiative of "the first literary creative signature", which is represented by artists and calligraphers writing Arab literary quotations for Arab writers, poets and philosophers that reflect the depth of the Arabic language and its special charm, within the various lettering templates that highlight the aesthetics and formality of Arabic calligraphy, in addition to drawing words and decorating them on cups Coffee, which enhances the presence of the "antagonist language" and its attractiveness to the public, regardless of its cultural backgrounds.

The event also seeks to encourage non-Arabic speakers to learn to write their names with “Arabic”, and to pronounce and write some Arabic vocabulary as phrases of welcome and thanks. Mohamed Al Habsi, Acting Director of the Department of Literature at Dubai Culture, pointed out that the International Day of the Arabic Language is an important occasion to celebrate our beautiful Arabic language, and to highlight its position, originality and importance as one of the most prevalent living languages ​​worldwide.

He alluded to the active role that "Dubai Culture" plays in dedicating the presence of the Arabic language in all aspects of life, saying: "This event comes within the framework of (Dubai Culture) efforts aimed at contributing to strengthening the position of the ancient language of Al-Dad in the Emirati society as part of a long series of initiatives." The activities you launch to preserve and consolidate our authentic national identity and our glorious cultural heritage, these efforts are in line with the “Arabic Language Charter” initiative, which came out of the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
