To coincide with World Tea Day, Emirates Airlines and the Sri Lankan-based company, Dilma, celebrated the 27th anniversary of their partnership with travelers at a height of 40,000 feet, with an exclusive session in appreciation of Ceylon tea on one of the Emirates Airbus A380s.

The first session of its kind was held in the Emirates A380 air salon before the World Tea Day, which is celebrated on December 15 of each year.

“Our commitment to providing a world-class dining experience in the atmosphere starts from the quality of the ingredients we choose to the beverages we offer,” said Darren Pot, Vice President of Catering at Emirates Airlines.

During the session, passengers enjoyed the Emirates EK31 flight, with a presentation of international gourmet Tomek Malik, which gave Al Khadour the opportunity to sample the special Delma tea combination.

Each year, Emirates offers 33 million cups of Dilma tea, among a special list available in all classes. Emirates Airlines tea is the most prominent of all items, and it is offered exclusively to first class travelers. This type of tea comes from one source and is made from the Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe plant, which grows in the Dumbagastalawa district of Sri Lanka's Nawalapitia state. This special tea also includes a little «Mary Gold» flower and safflower seeds, in addition to rose perfume and almond and ginger flavor that embody the flavors of the Middle East.
