The Moroccan authorities managed to save two young Moroccans trapped in the snow near the summit of Tidgine, the highest peak in the Rif mountain range, after one of them resorted to broadcasting a video recording on social media calling on officials to rescue them.

In the video, which was shared widely, a young man named Khaled said that he and his friend Ismail Alqan were caught in the snow near Mount Tidgin (2456 meters high), which is located in the Rif mountain chain extending in northern Morocco.

Khaled called for the video to be widely shared, and said that they could not continue the movement, because “the ice skates them to dangerous slopes” and they do not have the necessary equipment. Khaled said that his friend, who looked exhausted, had a fracture.

Shortly after the video was released, officials announced that the two young men had been rescued by the authorities and some volunteers.

Occasions occur occasionally in the Moroccan mountainous areas where snow falls at this time of the year.

A shepherd who was attacked by a blizzard on Mount Pueblan in the Middle Atlas Series, died last year, where authorities found him buried under the snow, a week after he left his life.
