`` Dangerous bus stop '' with safety issues Start nationwide survey December 13, 17:31 on MLIT

Last year, at the intersection of Yokohama City, a girl child who got off the bus was hit by a car, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism started on the 13th about the so-called "dangerous bus stop" where the bus body hits a pedestrian crossing. We started investigation all over the country.

Last August, when I was leaving school by bus at the intersection in Yokohama, an accident in which a 5th grade elementary school girl was hit by a car after getting off and died. There was a bus stop on the bus, so it was found that the bus body was in the shape of a pedestrian crossing.

In response to the accident, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism began a nationwide investigation on the so-called “dangerous bus stop”, which has safety issues, on the 13th.

The survey will be conducted with approximately 1,200 bus operators nationwide where the bus stops are located, as well as bus stops where the bodies of the stopped buses cross intersections and pedestrian crossings, and bus stops that appear to be a safety issue based on driver information.

It also means that residents and bus users will solicit opinions on these bus stops.

Then, for each applicable bus stop, the past road accidents are examined in the surrounding road conditions and the traffic volume of cars and pedestrians to determine the degree of risk.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will publish the survey results in order from March next year and will consider safety measures.
