Guest of Music, on Europe 1, the artist author of many cult songs in the 80s, came back on the reasons for the success of its flagship title.

INTERVIEW

His songs, with dancing arrangements and wacky lyrics, often suggestive, were hits in the 80s. Richard Gotainer, singer and comedian French, made his comeback in the bins with a compilation called Tubes and nuggets , he is came to present Monday at the microphone of Emilie Mazoyer, on Europe 1, in Music . The opportunity for him to talk about one of his most emblematic titles: The Mambo of Décalco .

In concocting this compilation of 42 tracks, Richard Gotainer says having "had a good time". "The smile accompanied me and I said to myself 'it's still really good'", he laughs while talking about his old songs. Returning to the success of the Mambo du Décalco , the artist explains that it is notably due to the timelessness of music and text. "I think we never tried to make fashion," he says, and "we tried to escape all that could resemble a current of the time."

"It's not fashion that makes the right song"

"The song must be of her time, but it is she who makes the fashion, it is not the fashion that makes the good song", assures again Richard Gotainer, which confirms having brought "a lot of care" with which the text does not correspond to a fashion of the 80s. "I knew it was a nostalgia that looked at me and was not very fashionable", he says, before joking: "If I had calculated, I would have had to do the 'sticker twist' ".

And the artist, whose model is none other than Georges Brassens, is still amazed at the success of the song: "It even touched people who did not know the decals!".
