The Saudi monarch, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, called on the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to confront the hostilities of Iran.

King Salman said during the inauguration of the Gulf Cooperation Council summit in Riyadh on Tuesday: "Our region today is experiencing circumstances and challenges that call for concerted efforts to confront them, as the Iranian regime continues its hostilities to undermine security and stability."

In a televised speech, he also urged the international community to deal with Iran's nuclear program and its ballistic missile program.

King Salman said that the Gulf Cooperation Council managed to overcome the crises that passed in the region, calling on the Gulf states to "unite in the face of Iran's aggression" and "secure themselves in the face of possible ballistic missile attacks".

The Saudi capital hosted the fortieth summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, at the invitation of King Salman, to discuss a number of topics and issues that would enhance the march of cooperation and integration among member states in various political, defense, security, economic and social fields, as well as offering regional and international political developments and the reflection of the security conditions in the region On the GCC.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers discussed topics on the agenda of the preparatory session, including the report of the General Secretariat on what has been implemented regarding the decisions of the Supreme Council and the Ministerial Council, and what has been achieved in the framework of achieving integration and cooperation in the course of joint Gulf action, in addition to reports and recommendations Submitted by the competent councils, ministerial committees and the General Secretariat in preparation for their submission to the fortieth session for guidance in this regard.
