Employment of persons with disabilities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's council showed that the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has halved the number of persons with disabilities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the employment of persons with disabilities has not progressed among the central ministries. We submitted a request for withdrawal to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

As for the employment of persons with disabilities in central ministries, last year, a flooding was discovered, and there were a series of situations where the employment rate was below 2.5%, which is required by law.

Under these circumstances, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's council has a disability due to the peculiarities of working overseas, such as embassies, etc. The policy is to reduce the number of people with disabilities who have to be hired by approximately half because it is difficult to fulfill their employment obligations.

On this day, the DPI Japan Conference, an organization created by persons with disabilities, submitted a request for withdrawal of policy to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the request form, it is necessary to argue that there is a lack of awareness about employment of people with disabilities, and that it is necessary to discuss how they can work instead of deciding that they cannot work overseas. is.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, we will continue to promote the employment of persons with disabilities systematically in each ministry and seek understanding of the policy.
