Confirmation of growth for practical use of cultured sockeye salmon 17 December, Nemuro City, Hokkaido, December 6

In Nemuro City, Hokkaido, where research on sockeye salmon aquaculture technology is underway, a survey was conducted to collect the sockeye salmon grown from fry from the sea and check its growth.

In Nemuro City, salmon trout drift net fishing was banned in Russia's exclusive economic zone three years ago, and sowing of sockeye salmon has drastically decreased.

On the 6th, as a demonstration test, the sea surface is raised from the stage of fry, and a survey is conducted to collect the sockeye salmon that has grown for more than 4 months, and to check the survival rate and the degree of growth. I recorded it.

As a result, out of the approximately 200 animals that were initially put into the living, only 40% survived, and there were some that exceeded 1 kg, which was the standard for shipping.

Nemuro and other cities will analyze the water temperature and growth process data in the demonstration test and conduct tests from the next fiscal year onwards, aiming for practical application of aquaculture technology.

Mr. Ryoji Kudo, Director of the Nemuro City Fisheries Promotion Division, says, “I am relieved to have a large amount of sockeye salmon grown to a certain extent. I would like to realize aquaculture and excite the beach of Nemuro.”
