Craig Mazin , the creator of the acclaimed Chernobyl series, has been hired by Disney to relaunch and reinvent the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, reports the specialized media The Hollywood Reporter .

Mazin, who also worked on the second and third Resacón movie in Las Vegas and is awaiting release of the new Charlie's Angels , will write the script for the next Pirates of the Caribbean film with Ted Elliott , who knows this series perfectly of adventure movies.

Elliott was a screenwriter of the first film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), and of the following three installments: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Dead Man's Chest (2006), Pirates of the Caribbean: At the End of World (2007) and Pirates of the Caribbean: In Mysterious Tides (2011).

Before Mazin and Elliott were hired, Disney entrusted in 2018 the task of refloating Pirates of the Caribbean to Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick , who triumphed as the writers of Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018).

However, Reese and Wernick abandoned the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie project earlier this year.

The five films of Pirates of the Caribbean raised worldwide more than 4,000 million dollars, but the last film released, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Revenge of Salazar (2017), left some worrying signs since it was the least blockbuster tape of the Saga from the first film .

Pirates of the Caribbean recovered the cinema of pirate adventures for the 21st century public from the hand of Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), a bluff and unique captain with the unusual ability to get out of any situation alive as serious as it was.

The Hollywood Reporter stressed that for the next film in the saga it is not confirmed or that Depp returns or that Sparrow returns with another actor in his place.

The five films so far of Pirates of the Caribbean have counted in their credits with stars such as Keira Knightley , Orlando Bloom , Geoffrey Rush , Penelope Cruz or Javier Bardem , among others.
