It was the accounting department of an artistic agency, which both actors had at the same time, which made this mistake.

“It was a terrible moment,” said the actor from across the Channel, who looks back on this astonishing story with humor.

“It was more money than I had ever seen!”

"I had gone to see a friend at the theater in England, sat smugly in the audience after doing a BBC drama for $30,000. The intermission came and I checked my email. J "I received one from the agency saying: 'Payment slip for the first box office bonus for 'The Avengers'", reports Tom Hollander to American host Seth Meyers.

The actor then immediately realizes the error of his artistic agency since he is not on the poster for the blockbuster.

But eager for curiosity, he decides to open this email, and discovers the amount of the fee intended for his young counterpart.

"It was an incredible amount of money. It wasn't his salary. It was his first box office bonus. Not the whole box office bonus, the first. And it was more money that I had never seen before!”, he says, specifying that it was “a seven-figure sum”, that is to say beyond a million euros.

“The feeling of self-importance that I had moments before then disappeared immediately,” he concluded with self-deprecation.
