A Scottish man stumbled over the stairs and fell from a height of about 3.7 meters, went into a coma on his wedding day and could not even remember his bride.

Chris Malone, a resident of the Scottish West Lothian region, fell off the stairs when he helped the hotel worker carry gifts to the wedding room, the Daily Record reported.

The man suffered fractures in the skull, back, arms and shoulders, as well as injuries to the heart and lungs.

He spent 10 days in the intensive care ward and when he woke up from his coma, doctors discovered that he had partially lost his memory.

"I saw how he woke up from his coma, and he was very embarrassed because he didn't know we were getting married," Scottish wife Avril told reporters.

Chris remained under the supervision of doctors for several weeks due to pneumonia, which led to his connection to the ventilator.
