Metallica has donated 250,000 euros to a Romanian society to build the country's first pediatric cancer hospital.
The donation came ahead of the heavy metal band's concert on Wednesday, the fourth in the European Union's member country since 1999, the Darwisti Fyata Association (Give Life) said on its Facebook page.
Construction began in mid-2018 at the Bucharest-based hospital, one of the few hospitals being built in Romania over the past three decades. The project is expected to be completed next year, and about 260,000 people and about 2,000 companies have made donations to the project so far.
