At Philippe Vandel Saturday, the editorial director of BFM TV responded to criticism that targeted the chain for its treatment of "yellow vests".

INTERVIEW

At the beginning of the year, BFM TV was criticized, especially for its cover of "yellow vests". "There was a difficult time," recognizes Céline Pigalle, editorial director of BFM TV. "But we worked hard," she continued Saturday on Europe 1.

On January 7, editorial journalists had even decided not to cover the movement of "yellow vests", in protest, after several journalists of the reporting service had been attacked in the field. An internal dialogue meeting was organized in the wake of this, leading in particular to the creation of an editorial committee. "There are a lot of things that have changed since," says the editorial director. "We have the concern to be more cautious with images," she cites in particular as an example.

A debate with the heads of the European list on May 23rd. A few days after the debate "The crisis and after?", Céline Pigalle, also said that BFM TV will organize the last debate of the European elections, May 23 next. "We will receive the top of the list in the European, May 23, just before the deadline," said the managing editor of the first news channel in France.

"We will have perhaps a dozen or more, top of the list," says the journalist. "By doing it as close to the elections as possible, we give as much information as possible to those who are going to vote", explains the managing editor. According to her, this is a sign of confidence in the "ability of the channel to organize the debates". "We have demonstrated that we had this know-how," says Céline Pigalle.
