For example, the Swedish arrow pistol "FX Ranchero Arrow" is advertised on the Internet as "a completely new dimension in terms of 'free weapons' in Germany". According to providers, the arrows are fired with a muzzle energy of 40 joules. Air rifles, however, are only for sale up to a kinetic energy of 7.5 joules.

The Federal Ministry of the Interior explains the regulatory gap with the fact that only firearms are subject to the weapon law, with which "projectiles are driven by a course".

Burkhard Lischka, spokesman for internal affairs of the SPD parliamentary group, therefore calls on the ministry to submit proposals to the Bundestag in order to close the legal loophole. "I consider it extremely insane, if we make the dangerousness of weapons depending on whether the bullet comes from a run or how a rocket is fired," says Social Democrat Lischka.
