The actor Götz Argus is dead. As it became known today, on the 27th of March he succumbed to a long illness at the age of 57 at his home in the Odenwald. Argus was mainly known from the theater, but played again and again in television productions.

From 2011, Argus was part of the ensemble of the Munich Residenztheater under artistic director Martin Kusej for seven years. Argus was shown in Frank Castorf's productions "Baal" and "Kasimir and Karoline" as well as in productions by Dimiter Gotscheff and Michael Thalheimer.

Argus's stagecraft was versatile. So he was also committed to music theater and ensemble member of the Japanese "Suzuki Company of Toga". Also in the opera Argus appeared, including in Madrid, Bilbao and the Opera on the Rhine.

Sporadically Götz Argus was also seen in the cinema and television. So he appeared in 1995 in the movie "The Sandman" next to Götz George. On television, he starred in Heinrich Breloer's documentary drama "Speer and he" and in 2014 in the RTL series "The Nerd".

Argus was a trained cabinet maker and had studied acting in Leipzig.
