"Green Book" (Green Book)
At the last Golden Globes award ceremony, a tragicomic biopic made in the format of a road-buddy-movie, received statuettes in the categories “Best film (comedy or musical)”, “Best screenplay” and “Best male supporting role”. Now the Green Book is one of the favorites of the premium season and has high chances to win at least one Oscar.
The picture describes the events of 1962 - then the white bouncer Tony Boltun Vallelong as a chauffeur and bodyguard accompanied the famous black jazzman Don Shirley on a tour of the southern states of America. Travelers were forced to follow the instructions of the so-called Green Book - the “safe” guide for the American to African Americans. “Beautiful Boy”
David Sheff is a journalist with The New York Times. Nick Scheff is his teenage son, sitting on meth. For several years, David has been trying to help Nick get rid of his addiction, but the young man now and then breaks down. Gradually, the father comes to the realization that no one can help his son except himself.
Two books of memoirs formed the basis of the tape - one was written by David, the other by Nick himself. The main roles were played by Steve Carell (Fox Hunter, Bruce Almighty, Office series) and Timothy Shalame (Call me with your name, Lady Bird). For his work in the film, Shalame received a nomination for Golden Globe in the category “Best male supporting role”. The director's chair was originally supposed to go to Cameron Crowe (“Jerry Maguire”, “Almost Famous”, “Vanilla Sky”), but in the end it was taken by the Belgian Felix van Groeningen (“Flemish Still Life” and “Open Circle”).
"Beef: Russian Hip-Hop"
The first major documentary project about the national rap scene - “Beef: Russian Hip-Hop” is coming out. He directed a picture of rapper Roma Zhigan. During the work on the tape, about 130 Russian (and not only) hip-hop artists were surveyed, including Vasily Vakulenko (Basta), Miron Fedorov (Oxxxymiron), Adil Zhalelov (Skryptonit), Alexander Tsikhov (Smoky Mo), Timur Yunusov (Timati), Alexey Dolmatov (Guf), the group "Casta" and "25/17" and many others. Also Zhigan managed to interview Kulio - the author of the hit Gangsta's Paradise.

Holmes & Watson
The American-Israeli screenwriter (“Soldiers of Failure”, “Madagascar 2”, “People in Black 3”) and director (“Kresis!”) Ethan Cohen (irrelevant to famous namesakes) has made another interpretation of the works of Arthur Conan Doyle - in his characteristic him comedic manner. In the story, Holmes and Watson are investigating a murder at Buckingham Palace and are trying to save the queen from the looming threat.
The legendary detective in Homs & Watson was played by comedian Will Ferrell, and his constant assistant and chronicler, John C. Riley. The film has already managed to receive nominations for the Golden Raspberry in the categories of Worst Film, Worst Male Role, Worst Male Supporting Role, Worst Actor Duet, Worst Prequel, Sequel, Remake or Plagiarism and Worst direction.

Astral: A New Dimension (Astral)
The horror of the week - “Astral: A New Dimension”, which is in no way connected with the popular line of horror films directed by James Wan and screenwriter Lee Wannell. The tape became the full-length debut of stage director and screenwriter Chris Mule.
