With wind speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour, the cyclone "Trevor" on Saturday has reached the sparsely populated north of Australia. The weather service said it reached the Northern Territory coast near the town of Port McArthur on the Gulf of Carpentaria. The hurricane was slightly downgraded by the authorities soon after its arrival on land.

The meteorologists expect that "Trevor" continues to weaken. But experts expect heavy rainfall and flooding.

Army and police have already in recent days many residents of remote places in safety, the "Trevor" could meet. Reports of the dead or injured were not available.
