A newly introduced parking system at Cologne / Bonn Airport has apparently surprised many motorists so much that they crash into the closed barrier systems. On Friday, five such incidents would have occurred by late afternoon, an airport spokeswoman said: "Actually, the barriers were clearly visible, but obviously it takes a bit to get used to it." Several media had reported on the accidents.

The park concept launched on Friday is supposed to improve traffic flow at the airport. Recently regulated is the short-term parking, which mainly use motorists who bring relatives to the airport or pick up. Many parked according to the airport repeatedly wild and blocked escape routes.

The barriers should bring order. If they happen, you can spend ten minutes outside the terminals for free. For longer stops an increased parking tariff applies. A similar system had introduced the Düsseldorf airport last September, without similar problems would have become known.
