On the holiday island of Majorca, the police have thwarted the wedding of a prison inmate on clearance - the groom is said to have used the marriage ceremony to get drugs. Officials arrested the entire wedding party including the bride and groomsmen.

While the group waited for the ceremony, the 34-year-old groom went to the bathroom, but left his jacket behind, Spanish media reported, citing police. Officers who had accompanied the man from the detention center to his marriage noticed suspicious movements of the 43-year-old bride and groomsmen and searched the jacket. They discovered several condoms that were filled with 90 grams of hashish.

When the police told the man that he could not celebrate a wedding because of the drug discovery, this had gone on the officials and tried to steal a weapon, it was said. He was returned to prison unmarried. His fiancée and groomsmen were also detained.
