The third union in the transportation sector, FO is the first to call on its members to join the movement that began on Saturday.

The FO transport and logistics federation on Tuesday called on its members and supporters to join the yellow vests movement to defend purchasing power, even considering toughening the tone through a call to strike.

FO is the first union in the sector to call for mobilization in support of the Yellow Vests, a movement that is intended to be apolitical and is organized outside the trade unions.

"Strengthen existing movements"

"We are also citizens," said Patrice Clos, general secretary and candidate for the succession of Pascal Pavageau at the head of the Confédération Force Ouvrière.

Third organization of the sector, FO-UNCP calls, "in solidarity with the citizen movement Vests yellow, (...) all its activists, adherents and supporters to participate and organize all actions to claim the increase of purchasing power" said the union in a brief statement.

"We call to strengthen existing movements," said Patrice Clos.

Towards a call to strike?

The sector, which includes truck drivers, paramedics, money carriers or movers, has some 700,000 employees, he said.

In the event that the mobilization would not bear fruit, FO-UNCP could go further, warned Patrice Clos. "If the government continues to despise our fellow citizens, we will see if we move to the next stage, that is to say the call to strike," he warned.

The other unions in the sector will position themselves

The CFDT, the first union in the sector of transport and logistics before the CGT, must decide Wednesday whether it joins the movement. At the end of October, she said she supported "the movement of citizen discontent over the increase of fuel and the supplementary taxation of pensions" .

The CFTC Transports, the 4th organization in this sector, talks about a decision by the end of the week.
