A cruise ship with 1300 passengers on board is in distress off the Norwegian coast. The ship has an engine problem, so it must be evacuated, said the police of the Norwegian province Møre og Romsdal on Twitter. The radio station NRK showed shots showing how the "Viking Sky" drifted into the dangerous Hustadvika waters during heavy waves.

The Southern Norwegian Rescue Service said that the ship had sent an emergency call for driving problems in adverse weather conditions and is heading towards the coast. Several helicopters and ships are on their way to the area. The Hustadvika waters are located near Kristiansund on the central west coast of Norway and are considered a dangerous sea area in which ship accidents have happened frequently.
