The number of deaths from wild fungus poisoning in Yunnan Province has dropped for four consecutive years. Wild edible fungi species account for more than half of the country's total, and there are many wild toadstool species.

The province has established 1,873 foodborne disease surveillance hospitals and 30 sentinel hospitals for active surveillance.
