[HIGHLIGHTS] Teaching training in Baden-Württemberg: Up to 40 percent of applicants do not take up the traineeship

Many prospective teachers do not start the preparatory service after applying for a traineeship. The numbers are highest among prospective vocational school teachers.

More and more students are quitting after completing their bachelor's degree to work in industry. The Vocational School Teachers Association (BLV) is worried about the situation in Baden-Württemberg, where there is a shortage of teachers in the state. The BLV chairman considers the numbers to be “absolutely frightening’ and says schools still have some catching up to do.
