Last year, it was revealed that the construction costs for the Expo were expected to rise to a maximum of 235 billion yen, an increase of 50 billion yen from previous years. The amount spent by people visiting the Expo is expected to be higher than previously expected, given recent trends in domestic travel. This is due to the Expo being carried out at the expense of the government.
