The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Canary Islands Government has signed an agreement with AXA Spain for the subscription of a travel assistance policy applicable to all tourists traveling to the Islands, whether foreign or national, and with the In order to respond to incidents related to the Covid-19, among which is the need to extend quarantine stays.

According to AXA reports, the Canary Islands thus becomes the first Spanish autonomous community in which tourists will have travel assistance coverage with guarantees of medical expenses, health repatriation and prolongation of stays by quarantine related to Covid-19, to comply with a forced confinement for positive result.

All this, as long as the contagion is not known before the trip, as stated in the conditions of the insurance policy.

In addition, Turismo de Canarias and AXA Spain coincide in pointing out that this travel assistance insurance constitutes one more attraction of the destination, which already stands out for its health security, before those people who are currently deciding where to spend their holidays.

Likewise, as a result of this agreement, the insurer will make available to the Canary Islands Government an exclusive telephone hotline to attend to any circumstance related to this policy.

The protection of tourists, Spaniards (including island ones) and foreigners through this insurance is effective from this week and will initially be valid for 12 months.
