The school year started on Tuesday.

But for many parents, the anguish of seeing their child's classroom or even school closed if coronavirus cases are noted remains.

Because if necessary, it will be necessary to find a mode of care.

The government is working on solutions.

Only two days since the start of the school year, and already 9 schools have been closed, or have not yet reopened due to proven cases of coronavirus or suspicions, in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in the Paris region, or in the Alpes de Haute Provence.

And each time, the same question: how are parents going to look after their children?

The government has not yet made a decision but hypotheses are already on the table.

Coronavirus: follow the evolution of the situation Thursday, September 3

Currently, if a school or class closes due to contamination and parents do not have a childcare solution, they currently have to file time off, RTT or telecommute if their business allows them.

But on Tuesday, Gabriel Attal, the government spokesman, promised that parental leave will be possible for parents.

It remains to be seen in what form.

The government is considering three options.

Option number one: daily allowances

The first solution would be to allow parents to receive daily allowances first.

The employee would thus be paid by Social Security as in a classic sick leave.

And would therefore receive 50% of his basic salary, within the limit of 2,770.96 euros gross monthly.

Option number 2: recourse to partial activity

The second possible option will be the use of partial activity, but this device would be extremely supervised.

During confinement, this device had been greatly extended, to allow part-time employees to receive 70% of their gross remuneration, or 84% of net salary.

Option number 3: a guard managed by local authorities

On the side of the Ministry of National Education, we are considering a third hypothesis that would allow employees to continue working: having children look after the local communities.

It would not be a question of educating the pupils concerned but rather of keeping them, either in a separate class, or in an external place, a structure made available by the municipality.

The Ministry of Labor has already warned in

that to claim this leave for childcare would be subject to conditions.

First, that neither of the two parents can telework.

Then, on the closure of the establishment or the class is decided by a competent authority, prefecture or regional health agency in this case.

Finally, that no other type of childcare is offered locally.
