“White goods” Domestic shipments in June Turned positive for the first time in 9 months 12:41 on July 21

Domestic shipments of so-called white goods such as air conditioners and washing machines in June increased by 5.8% compared to the same month last year, turning positive for the first time in nine months. This is due to the fact that uniform payment of 100,000 yen has progressed.

According to the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association, domestic shipments of white goods last month were 307.3 billion yen, an increase of 5.8% compared to the same month last year.

It is the first time in nine months since last September before the consumption tax rate hike that the shipment amount will be positive, and it is the first time in 23 years and three months since March 1997 that the value of 300 billion yen will be exceeded.

By breakdown, air conditioners increased by 9.5% to ¥148.2 billion and washing machines increased by 4.4% to ¥34.9 billion.

Industry groups say that shipments have increased due to the return of customers to home electronics mass retailers due to the cancellation of the emergency declaration, and the progress of uniform benefits of 100,000 yen.

Digital home appliances decreased by 8.2%

Meanwhile, according to the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, domestic shipments of digital home appliances such as flat-screen TVs were 106.9 billion yen last month, a decrease of 8.2% compared to the same month last year.

Flat-panel TVs and other video equipment decreased by 1.4% to ¥59.4 billion, and car-related equipment such as car navigation systems decreased by 19% to ¥39.7 billion.

This means that shipments of car navigation systems and speakers to be delivered to automobile manufacturers have decreased due to the spread of the new coronavirus.
