The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority announced that the General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector in the country has issued instructions to telecommunications service providers, namely “Etisalat” and “Du”, to suspend the suspension of mobile phone services due to failure to pay bills to ensure continuity of service, to enable work and distance education. It also coordinated with telecommunications service providers to freeze the accounts of subscribers who are outside the state and are currently unable to benefit from the services, as well as freeze the accounts of small and medium-sized companies that are unable to do business due to the "Covid 19" crisis.
In a report issued today, entitled "The Initiatives of the UAE Government to Confront the Corona Crisis," the Competitiveness and Statistics Authority stated that the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority provided free browsing to more than 800 health and education websites, and decided to exempt parents from owners of inspiration and teachers from fees to employ Smart applications.
She added that the authority coordinated with the company "Yahsat" to provide free internet via satellite to students in remote areas, Abu Dhabi, in order to support distance education, in addition to providing free internet data via mobile phones to allow consumers to communicate through video and audio communication programs without fees and provide services Communications are free of charge to a number of quarantine sites, as well as encouraging the use of mobile applications for service providers such as managing the account or paying bills to encourage customers to stay at home.
