Brittany at the heart. Since he left the presidency of the regional council to become minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian has regularly intervened to help his native region. The latest example is quite recent. According to Le Canard Enchaîné , the Minister of Foreign Affairs would have threatened to resign if the Foundry of Brittany were to close. This industrial site located in Caudan, in Morbihan, is the property of the Renault group, to which it supplies 95% of its production of auto parts. The "savings plan" presented by the French manufacturer plans to cut 15,000 jobs worldwide, including nearly 5,000 in France.

Since this announcement, the unions of the Breton foundry have continued to mobilize. Many elected officials in the region, led by Le Drian's successor, have written to the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire in an attempt to save the industrial site which employs 400 people. According to Le Canard enchaîné , Jean-Yves Le Drian would have gone so far as to threaten Matignon to resign if the factory closed.

Will the site be sold?

On Friday May 29, the news finally fell after an extraordinary CSE. The Foundry of Brittany "will not close". Two days later, the CEO of the car manufacturer Jean-Dominique Senard sowed doubt by raising the possibility of a sale. A hypothesis strongly rejected by the foundry unions.
