A major chemical manufacturer, Mitsui Chemicals, has begun producing non-woven fabrics used in medical gowns that are lacking due to the spread of new coronavirus infections. We plan to produce about 10 million medical gowns per month.

Mitsui Chemicals began manufacturing non-woven fabrics for medical gowns on the 23rd of this month at a subsidiary factory in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, which makes non-woven fabrics for disposable diapers.

The production amount is equivalent to about 10 million medical gowns per month, and the produced non-woven fabrics will be supplied to the domestic sewing manufacturers designated by the government.

Mitsui Chemicals says, "I want to contribute to getting the gown to the medical field in the fastest and shortest way."

Due to the spread of new coronavirus infection, the shortage of gowns in the medical field is serious, and there is a growing trend among companies to increase the production of gowns and non-woven fabrics at the request of the country.
