The ceiling on the use of meal vouchers for purchases in supermarkets, local shops and weekly meals has been changed to 95 euros, once a week, against 19 euros per day currently, said the Ministry of Labor on Thursday, confirming RTL information.
A joint decree with the Ministry of the Economy will be taken "by the end of next week".
To be able to pay for all food shopping with restaurant vouchers
"Concretely this means that it will be possible to pay in one go for food shopping with restaurant tickets," said the ministry, adding that this device will be stopped as soon as restaurants reopen.
When the restaurants reopen, "similar arrangements will be made for payment in restaurants." The expired titles could contribute to a support fund for restoration, the ministry added without giving further details. Some 4 million employees of companies use restaurant vouchers, a sector which represents more than 6 billion euros per year.
