Emirates Airlines announced the update of its exemption policy due to the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, as it has facilitated the process of re-reservation and cancellation of travel tickets to all the markets it serves around the world, confirming once again that its customers are always a priority of their interests.

"The travel and aviation industry operates according to complex rules about ticket prices, re-reservations and refunds, and these rules differ according to each market. We realize that entering customers in the details of this may be confusing and cause inconvenience, especially In light of the critical circumstances the world is witnessing due to the spread of Covid-19, we would like to thank our customers and business partners for their understanding and support during this period in which we are working to develop policies that guarantee both their needs and regulatory requirements. "

Adnan Kazim added: “We hope that Emirates airline customers will book their tickets and travel with us at a later time, and for this we have extended the validity of their current tickets up to two years and provided them with the option to obtain a travel voucher and use it against any of our products and services. Customers will not incur any change fees for reservations on Tickets issued until May 31 for travel until August 31, 2020. We also provide them with the option to retrieve the value of their tickets in cash, knowing that this takes time due to the large numbers of requests we are currently dealing with. ”

Emirates offers three options to its customers affected by the suspension of flights and travel restrictions:

• Keep your ticket: The validity of all Emirates tickets issued before May 31 to travel until August 31 will be automatically extended until 760 days. Customers who booked tickets during this period can be assured, as they will be able to change appointments when they decide to travel again. Whenever they want to travel within two years from the date the ticket was issued, customers must contact Emirates Airlines or travel agents to re-book their flights. The ticket can be booked to the same primary destination or choose a destination served by Emirates Airlines and within the same region without incurring any fees to change the reservation. The carrier also allows customers to re-book their tickets to travel to destinations in other regions without imposing change fines, and price differences are applied if necessary.

• Request a travel voucher: Customers can convert their tickets into travel vouchers equal to the amount they paid for the basic reservation (the unused portion of the ticket only). The travel voucher is valid for one year from the date it was issued, and it can be extended for another year. It can also be used to purchase products or services provided by Emirates Airlines, such as booking travel tickets to any destination and on any travel class or any other services, and price differences are applied if necessary. Change fines will not apply to these vouchers, so customers will take advantage of greater flexibility to re-book their tickets when they are ready to travel again.

• Redeem the value of the ticket: Customers who choose to keep their tickets or travel voucher can still request a refund of the amount they paid for the ticket, if they are unable to travel. There will be no fines for redeeming the ticket.

Emirates makes it easy to make any of these requests online by filling in a simple form.
