The Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi has directed the owners of foodstuff stores, cooperative societies, “supermarkets” and the like, pharmacies, medical materials and bakeries to extend working hours from this morning to 12:00 midnight as a minimum throughout the week with the possibility of continuing to serve 24 hours continuously throughout Days of the week in all regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

This came in a circular issued by the department based on the directives issued by the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Authority and the Ministry of Economy, in line with the preventive measures for Corona virus.

The department stressed that this generalization comes within the framework of securing the population’s needs of the necessary food and medical consumables around the clock during the day, in addition to reducing crowding due to the high demand from consumers at the shops, which may be a cause of transmission of the virus infection between individuals.

The department explained that the application of this circular is binding on all the activities that have been mentioned in implementation of the precautionary and preventive measures that it takes to combat the spread of "Covid 19" virus infection, stressing that inspection and oversight teams will implement control and inspection visits in this regard to determine its application from the date of its issuance.
