Etisalat today announced the renewal of its support for the distance learning system in the country following the announcement of the decision to continue distance learning until the end of the current academic year in the United Arab Emirates through a package of initiatives that provide the educational sector with the services necessary to facilitate the continuity of the distance learning initiative for students, And parents, and various workers in this vital sector.
Etisalat has been working since the launch of the distance learning initiative to launch a set of qualitative initiatives that included supporting more than 12,000 students from families that do not have home internet service, by providing them with internet packages on mobile phones to enable them to freely browse the platforms and educational sites of the Ministry of Education In the country, in coordination with the Ministry and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. Etisalat also provided free access to 9 applications and platforms that enable video and audio communication to enhance the distance learning mechanism, namely:
(Google Hangouts, Microsoft Teams, Blackboard, Zoom, Skype for Business, Cisco Webex, Avaya Spaces, BlueJeans, Slack) via the fixed and mobile broadband network and in coordination with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to support the education sector and the sustainability of the distance learning initiative.
Etisalat is also proud to provide free browsing of more than 800 websites for the education, health and safety sector for all Etisalat mobile subscribers, who numbered more than 10 million subscribers in the country by the end of 2019. Through its integrated infrastructure and advanced digital services Etisalat was able to enable one million students nationwide to participate in distance learning platforms, without affecting the performance and continuity of the services it provides to the rest of the sectors and subscribers.
